Performance Sports Therapy – Ottawa

Does the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) cover physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage?

Yes. The Public Service Health Care Plan covers physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage therapy under its Medical Practitioners Benefit, and none of the three needs a prescription. The plan reimburses a percentage of eligible costs up to a yearly maximum for each type of practitioner.

What the plan requires

  • The practitioner must be registered or licensed in the province where you are treated. Our physiotherapists, chiropractors and registered massage therapists are regulated in Ontario.
  • Each service has its own calendar-year maximum.
  • You pay a share of each visit, because the plan reimburses a percentage and not the full fee.

Limits and percentages are set by the plan and can change. Check the current figures in your member booklet or at pshcp.ca before you book a course of treatment.

How claims work at our clinic

  1. Pay at the end of your visit.
  2. We give you a detailed receipt.
  3. Submit the claim to Canada Life, the plan administrator, through your online account or app.

We do not bill the PSHCP directly. The only direct billing we do is to Blue Cross for RCMP, Canadian Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs clients.

Other plans in the same household

If your spouse or partner also has coverage, you can usually submit the unpaid part to the second plan. Ask both insurers how they coordinate benefits.

Booking

No referral is needed to book physiotherapy, chiropractic or massage therapy in Ontario. Many federal employees come to our Gloucester clinic from Orléans, Beacon Hill and across Ottawa’s east end. Fees are on our Pricing page.
