No. Physiotherapists in Ontario are primary care providers, which means you can book directly without seeing a doctor first. The same is true for chiropractic care and registered massage therapy.

When a referral can still matter

Some extended health plans ask for a doctor’s note before they will reimburse physiotherapy or massage. That is a rule set by your insurer, not by us or by the province. Before your first visit, check your benefits booklet or call your insurer and ask one question: “Do I need a referral for physiotherapy to be reimbursed?”

If your doctor referred you somewhere else

You are free to choose your own clinic. A referral that names another clinic is still valid here.

What to bring

  • Your insurance details, if you have coverage
  • Any imaging reports or doctor’s notes you already have
  • A list of medications

If you are in Gloucester, Orléans, Blackburn Hamlet or Rothwell Heights, we are at 5-5303 Canotek Road. Call 613-742-1230 or book online.
