Is physiotherapy covered by OHIP?
For most adults, no. OHIP funds physiotherapy only for specific groups, and only at designated Community Physiotherapy Clinics.
Who qualifies for OHIP-funded physiotherapy
According to the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, you may qualify if you have a valid health card and are:
- 65 or older
- 19 or younger
- Any age, after an overnight hospital stay or day surgery within the last 12 months
People receiving Ontario Works or ODSP may also qualify. In each case the care must relate to a recent illness, injury, surgery or a flare-up of an existing condition.
How it works at Performance Sports Therapy
We are a private clinic, so visits are not billed to OHIP. Most of our patients use extended health benefits through work or a private plan. Most insurance companies cover chiropractic, physiotherapy, registered massage therapy, psychotherapy and dietetics.
