It can be uncomfortable, but most people tolerate it well. The treatment itself lasts only a few minutes, and the intensity is adjusted to what you can handle.

What it feels like

A rapid tapping or pulsing on the sore spot. It tends to be most noticeable right over the injured tissue and often eases as the session goes on.

Common side effects

  • Redness or mild swelling
  • Soreness in the area for a day or two
  • Occasional bruising or temporary numbness

These usually settle within a week.

Afterward

  • You can walk and drive straight away
  • Avoid hard training on the treated area for about 48 hours, or as your practitioner advises
  • Keep doing the exercises you were given
