What is PEMF therapy and what is it used for?
PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. A device sends low-frequency electromagnetic pulses into the body. It is non-invasive and drug-free, and you stay fully clothed.
What people use it for
- Muscle soreness and recovery after training
- Joint and muscle pain
- Alongside other treatment for ongoing musculoskeletal problems
What the research says
Studies of PEMF for joint and muscle pain, including knee osteoarthritis, show mixed results. Some people report meaningful relief and others notice little. We use it as an addition to a treatment plan, not as a replacement for assessment, hands-on care and exercise.
What a session is like
You sit or lie comfortably while the device runs. Most people feel nothing or a mild pulsing. How long a session lasts depends on what your practitioner recommends. PEMF can be booked on its own or added to a treatment. It can’t be booked online, so call us to set it up.
Who should not have it
PEMF is generally avoided if you have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, or during pregnancy. Your practitioner will check before you start.
