Does my insurance cover physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage?
In most cases, yes. Most extended health plans in Ontario cover physiotherapy, chiropractic care, registered massage therapy, psychotherapy and dietetics. What differs from plan to plan is how much.
Four things to check on your plan
- Annual maximum per service. Many plans set a separate yearly limit for each profession.
- Percentage covered. Some plans pay 100%, others 80% or less.
- Referral requirement. A few plans want a doctor’s note before they reimburse.
- When your plan year resets. Unused coverage usually does not carry over.
Direct billing
We direct bill Blue Cross for members of the RCMP, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) clients. If that is you, we bill Blue Cross for your covered visits, so you don’t pay up front or submit a claim afterward.
For all other plans, you pay at your visit and we give you a detailed receipt to submit to your insurer.
